2015 Reading Challenge Final Update

Posted by in What I Think About What You Wrote (Reviews), Wish I Thought of This

So, you might remember from before here and here that I had a goal this year of reading 52 books in 52 weeks. And, I’m freaking proud to announce that I’ve done it!! 52 books in 52 weeks. It was hard but it was awesome, and I’m so excited about my own Reading Challenge for 2016 (stay tuned for more on that, cause I know you want to do it too.) As you know from my previous posts, about halfway through the year I was lagging behind and joined the…read more

Buried in Books – Reading Challenge Update

Posted by in What I Think About What You Wrote (Reviews)

You may remember my post months ago about working on a reading challenge. Despite my misgivings, I’m really enjoying myself. I’m reading books that I never would have picked up on my own, and I’m liking most of them. (Sorry Madeleine L’Engle, I just can’t get into you.) I’m finding too, that reading toward a goal, and being held accountable by reporting to you guys, has really helped me buckle down. Review: The Good Girl

So, you need to label yourself so this is all neat and tidy. Don’t just pick a genre though, find other works,…read more

Review: Outlander

I bought this book more than a year ago. Someone told me it was great, but not only that, that it was –ahem- quite sexy. I was feeling chubby, and formula covered, and generally unsexy. I thought a little bit of pre-bedtime reading might help that. Then I got it in the mail (side note: GOD – I LOVE AMAZON!) and it weighs a thousand pounds. Hundreds and hundreds of pages. I glanced briefly at the first few pages, something about Highland Scotland, post WWII. Ugh. Why didn’t I read…read more

Review: The Likeness

Posted by in What I Think About What You Wrote (Reviews)

If I could die and come back as any writer, I would come back as Tana French. God, she knows what she is doing. The Likeness is the second book in her “Dublin Murder Squad” Series. I read the first, Into the Woods last year and love, love, loved it. Loved it so much that I put the rest of her books on my Christmas list. The Likeness is no different. It is the story of Cassie Maddox who was a secondary character in Into the Woods. She is a…read more
